I am mightily annoyed
Sod the old phrase about better to give than to receive. I am pissed off that I go to the effort and expense of sending someone a card and then I don't end up receiving one in return.
I have just been updating my Xmas card database and the ratio of sent cards to received is now 58%, a drop of 12.5% since last year. That's bad.
The people I sent card to but didn't get them back from are:
University friends: Adrian Glover, Andy Gould, Dave Bannister (although he was giving money to charity and said so at the beginning of December by email), Matti Watton, Nick Gibbs, Rob Gould
LSE friends: Alan Revel, Alison Johns, Chris Cylwik, Eleanor Lowenthal, Kate Bennett, Kevin Haynes, Mark Thomson, Richard Pursand, Sally Welch,
Salford Uni friends: Dave Goodman, Janet Savage, Mike James (no, 1 office card to 5 people is not enough - its 1 card each!)
Cleck family/friends: Matthew Westlake, Nicola Squires, Warren Stephenson
Apologies to those who did send me a card if I didn't receive it, let me know and I will amend my records. I know I sent some that never got there. This is why I operate a 2 strikes and you're out policy: it's unlikely that one person's card goes missing 2 years in a row.
The people I've not had a card from for 2 years running are: Alison Johns, Chris Cylwik, Dave Goodman, Eleanor Lowenthal, Kate Bennett, Kevin Haynes, Matthew Westlake, Mark Thomson, Nicola Squires, Richard Pursand, Sally Welch and Warren Stephenson.
If they either can't be bothered to send me one or care so little about Christmas cards that they don't bother sending them then they'll cope without one from me. That's 12 cards, 12 stamps, 12 address labels and 12 Christmassy messages less to worry about next year.
